If you can come up with anything worse than these god-awful Prius hubcaps, you win. (Note: it has nothing to do with the fact that they're on a Prius. Just look at them. They are terrible.)

Whatever god awful chrome wheels come on the c7. The Prius is awful already, crappy hubcaps don't ruin it. The c7 at least is a good car, but those chrome wheels destroy and cheapen the looks.

Reminds me of the second gen Prius Touring, that had some decent looking hubcaps over a very nice set of gunmetal grey wheels.

Kinja'd!!!

We owned one in 2008 and I ditched those hubcaps as soon as I bought the car.

Ford Focus SFE. I don't care if it gives you a better gas mileage, they're ugly:

Definitely the "chrome clad" wheels they put on trucks. The part you see is actually a cheapo plastic shell on top of the actual wheels...on 50k plus vehicles. It's crazy.

While I've certainly seen more bad than good, I think it's possible to do plastic hubcaps well. Peugeot have quite the knack for it.

Excessively large wheels on non-performance cars. Too many cars with 18-20-inch rims when 13-15 inches will suffice. And with the thin sidewalls, you might as well be riding the rim.

15x6 is plenty sufficient for a midsize luxury sedan like my ES300. 205/65-15 is a more than adequate tire size.

Little cars like the Micra, Stupid Smart, Spark, and Mirage are totally OK to use 12-13-inch wheels. 155/80-12 or -13, for example.

13-14 inches for the next size up, like the 2, Yaris, Sonic, Fit, Fiesta, etc.

Not to mention the bigger low-pro tires are outrageously expensive and do hurt gas mileage.

Not sure if you can still buy normal Veyrons, or if these wheels are available on any current Veyron, but these are terrible. Even though they must cost 20k each.

I'd have to say these wheels on the Camaro. I know a lot of you like them, but man, I hate how they make the car look fater and with much less road prescence.

I am also not a big fan of these wheels on the Challenger. It makes an obese car look even more overflowing with grease

Came here to say this.

At least they finally got the civic some proper 5-lug wheels. I despise 4-lug wheels, as it throws a square aesthetic onto a round object. As much as I love the Fiesta ST and Mazda2, if I owned either I'd find a way to swap in hubs (and brakes)from their larger brethren and fit 5-lug wheels on it.

Anything with four lugs, as it throws a square aesthetic onto a round, rolling object.

Kinja'd!!!

Fiesta ST wheels (above) versus Focus ST (below):

Kinja'd!!!

I greatly prefer the overall look of the Fiesta's wheel, but abhor the four-lug look. It ruins it.

Excessively large wheels are always bad for performance. If anything it is the non-performance cars that should be sporting the 20inch and up rims

Kinja'd!!!1

Can't say I think it detracts from the look... Maybe a person with OCD would have a problem with the square vs round concept?

Anyway, wheel bolts cost money. A manufacturer can probably save, I dunno, 10 bucks per car coming off the production line by using four bolts instead of five on each wheel.

You're correct on cost (though $10/car seems high, probably closer to $3-5 max), which is why cars like the smart for two, Citroen 2CV, and Tata Nano have used three-lug wheels. I'm more ok with three logs than four, as at least the triangle has a balanced aesthetic. Personally my favorite wheel designs for non-trucks have the same number of spokes as they do lugs, and so three or five spokes seems fine, but four look awful and particularly dated, even on modern cars.

Yeah but the previous (8th) generation had a 5-lug hub already, and the adding heavier 18" wheels on an NA 4-banger just offends me.

Yep. When I bought the Prius I saw the car had hubcaps over aluminum wheels and thought WTF? The only reason I can see for the hubcaps is to improve aerodynamics and overall fuel economy. But even with the hubcaps off I crossed the US from California to Virginia and back, doing 65-85 mph the whole way, and averaged 42 mpg doing so. Those wheels however came without a center cap (the wheels were completely covered by the hubcaps), but four $8 Corolla center caps fit perfectly.

Funny thing is, even the base model Prius has half-decent looking aluminum wheels that get a plastic aerodynamic ring. Without the rings they also look better:

Those godawful stock GT86/ FR-S/ BRZ wheels representing most two-tone single-piece rims. They just look like shit on anything.

On multi-piece rims thats a different story however as long as the outer piece stays silver/ chrome/ polished.

you've got me curious so i'm going to keep an eye out for their next one to see what wheels it has
